Previous Studies and Casual Opinion for Hospital Rounds-Free Service by Radiologists
Many times during hospital based radiology practice, work that we radiologists do for the day is not reflected in the daily statistics as that is just counting the number of CT/MR/Plain films we read ( that was the case in my last hospital assignment atleast). While usually additional work that i was doing was not accounted for at all neither in the stats nor in my pay cheque was number of times i had a case with attached bundle of imaging done for last 3 years, and although i know the value of comparison studies, it was at times atrocious specially if you are reporting per case, do you think there should be some charges for these comparison studies. Another peculiar issue mainly with hospital based practise is suddenly some clinician would walk in with bundle of films or CDs and ask me for my opinion. Nothing official, but takes time and finally not accounted in the stats again. I had to propose to the hospital management that atleast we should raise a ticket for these as well , even if i am not reimbursed but atleast it should reflect in my monthly work. And to top it all sometimes when the report was already finalised, and request with previous studies would come in and you have to do it all over again. What are your thoughts!!
