Rorschach Test and Radiologists
Rorschach test : interpretation of ink blots as a method of psychological assessment. One day while teaching students many radiological signs, it stuck me, that we radiologists are actually playing this test day in and out. This is a psychological test in which subjects' perceptions of inkblots are recorded and psychologists use this test to examine a person's personality characteristics and emotional functioning. Think about us radiologists see water lily in hydatid, eye of the tiger in hallevorden spatz, golf ball in papillary necrosis and oreo cookie in pericardial effusion. May be rorschach got his inspiration from radiologists. And what do we get to know about state of mind of people who have described these appearances, very interesting indeed.
