Quadriceps Tendon Rupture-MRI
Discontinuity and fluid signal in the suprapatellar segment of quadriceps muscle suggesting disruption. Rupture of quadriceps tendons is most common in the 6th & 7th decades, and is probably associated with decreased vasculature. More common in males; particularly with cortisone injections, diabetes, chronic renal failure; hyperthyroidism, and gout. Unlike the achilles tendon rupture, the quadriceps disruption is usually associated with intense pain.
