Calcaneal Stress Fracture
Case Report: Patient with pain in ankle shows on MRI T1 & T2 WI hypointense linear area in the calcaneum oriented parallel to curve of posterior calcaneum along with areas of marrow edema- appearing hyperintense on T2/STIR images suggesting probable stress fracture. Xrays were previously reported as normal.

- Stress fractures may take up to 7-14 days to appear on conventional radiographs
- Vertically oriented zone of increased density on lateral radiograph
- Perpendicular to the trabecular lines
- Usually oriented parallel to the curve of the posterior calcaneus
